Merchandising Tips

1. Build large displays utilizing Disney Garden packaging and display ready cartons.

2. Utilize POS to provide specific callouts to new products.

3. Create endcap displays at the front of the department and spread other clearly marked items throughout the department to draw in kids and parents.

4. Set aside space in the cold case for a "Destination of Innovation" for Disney Garden value added products like small fruit, sliced apples, vegetables with sauce and other kid friendly items.

5. Use display bins like the apple citrus bin and the watermelon bin to create high graphic sell points in the front of the store, and in the department.

Display Contests
Plan a Disney themed display contest for multiple Disney items, or around one specific category. This allows your produce managers to create the spirit and magic of Disney right in your stores. One U.S. retailer that did a similar program saw a 16% lift in sales over the previous year.

Produce Department Take Ones
(collectible passports for PLU’s, coloring sheets, kid recipes, etc.)

Creating a kids activity sheet or Disney collectable program creates an opportunity for kids to remain engaged in the program even after they leave the store. A collectable program creates a desire for kids to come back and purchase additional items to complete their PLU collectable book. One mom told us this about the Disney PLU stickers.

“My daughter is so excited to see the Disney characters when we go to the grocery store. The first Minnie Mouse peach she had she took the sticker off and stuck it right onto her forehead. This has now become a daily ritual with us - I take the stickers and put them on her forehead and she runs into her room and sticks them into her journal to save. When we go to the grocery store she asks for her fruit by character "can we get 2 Plutos, a couple of Minnies and some Mickeys too!" If the fruit is in a bin with non-Disney Garden fruit we need to pick through and make sure each piece we buy has the right stickers on them. She's even gotten her friends to do the same”. – Cathy N.

Radio Disney Events
An on site event or promotion with Radio Disney can be tailored around store demos or city events to increase exposure and publicity.  The Radio Disney team will provide handouts and engage kids in games and activities to get them excited about the program.

Demo Events
Demo events have proven the ability to increase sales by up to 200% on the day of the demo.  Creating a weekend demo program for Disney Garden items might spur impulse sales and program awareness

Fruit & Veggie of the Month Program
Kids love opportunities to learn about new things.  Creating a positive and risk free environment for them to try a fruit or vegetable can create fun opportunities for kids to add new fruits and vegetables into their diets and increase long term sales.

Circular Ads
Customized circular ads create unique brand marketing and awareness opportunities about specific promotions or categories.

Kick off Celebrations for Produce Managers
When a new program is launched or display contests are initiated, Disney Garden staff can help execute a meeting for produce managers.  The idea is to give them promotional and display ideas and get them excited about the program execution.
